About The Beast Known as Kotobuki – Horse – This work was inspired by the piece The Beast Known as Kotobuki by Enrōsai Shigemitsu, a late Edo-period ukiyo-e artist. Several ukiyo-e artists, including Enrōsai, depicted this “auspicious beast” that embodies the traits of all twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac. This motif resonates deeply with Feebee's artistic theme of "awe, life and death, and cycles." As various elements of the world intertwine—rising, falling, and repeating—the twelve zodiac signs also rotate cyclically through the years. This piece corresponds to the Year of the Horse. It features the head of a snake (symbolizing the previous year's zodiac) and the bodies of the eleven other animals skillfully illustrated, each awaiting its turn in the cycle. Note: As of December 2025, the ukiyo-e series The Beast Known as Kotobuki has completed works for "Rat," "Ox," "Tiger," "Rabbit," "Dragon," "Snake," and "Horse," with further releases planned.
